PAUL JAMES BAND lit it up last night !

The PAUL JAMES BAND www.pauljamesband.com lit it up at BLUES ON THE RIDEAU @ THE COVE INN, Westport last night. After 40+ years of performing Paul still has the energy and the moves - playing guitar behind his head, spinning around on the dance floor, walkabouts through the audience, making that guitar sing - backed by his solid band with Gary Grey on keyboards, Michael Theodore on bass, Leon Stevenson on drums and “Sweet Sue” Chater on backup vocals and percussion.

The audience ate up his blend of original songs and good old time Rock ’n Roll, Blues and Rockabilly. A Maple Blues Lifetime Achievement Award and Juno Award winner Paul can boast at having played over 100 gigs with the late, great Bo Diddley in the ’70’s as well as a number of concerts with Bob Dylan (who remains a fan). He also toured with the famous New York City rock band Mink DeVille in the 1980’s. He truly is one of Toronto’s - and for that matter Canada’s - Blues/Rock legends. This was his first visit back to eastern Ontario since his appearance at the 2005 Smiths Falls Blues Festival.

Hopefully it won’t be another 10 years before he returns!

The Cove’s sumptuous buffet featured BBQ roast beef sirloin, grilled chicken skewers with Tzatziki sauce, butternut squash ravioli and the usual great mix of salads and homemade buns. Rhubarb and berry pie with whipped cream to top it off. Yum!
